About EDTEF
What is EDTEF?
EDTEF, the Empower Dreams Through Education Foundation, is a non-profit that awards full-tuition scholarships to academically strong students in senior secondary school in Nigeria.
Where does EDTEF work?
Our scholars are in senior secondary schools in Nigeria.
The scholarship
What does the scholarship cover?
The EDTEF Senior Secondary Scholarship is a full tuition waiver for SS1 to SS3. Scholars do not pay tuition fees for the three years of senior secondary school.
How do I keep my scholarship?
Maintain an average of at least 70% and share your term results with EDTEF before the next term begins.
Is it free to apply?
Yes. There are no application or processing fees, ever.
Do you support university students?
Not yet. Today we focus on senior secondary school. University guidance and scholarship support are where we are heading next, starting with our own scholars.
Applying
Who can apply?
Students in Nigeria who are completing junior secondary school and moving into SS1, with strong results and a genuine financial need.
How do I apply?
Applications open once a year. The application window, requirements and how to submit are announced on this website when the intake opens.
How are students selected?
We select from the applications we receive each year, looking at results, level of need, character and motivation. Shortlisted students meet our team before decisions are made.
Does applying guarantee a scholarship?
No. Places are limited and every application goes through selection.
Get involved
Can I volunteer?
Yes. We welcome mentors, tutors, outreach volunteers and people with media or operations skills. See the volunteer page for the roles.
Can I sponsor a scholar?
Yes. Individuals, companies and foundations can sponsor scholars or fund a cohort. Email our partnerships team to start a conversation.
How is EDTEF funded and how is money used?
Through donations, grants and partnerships. Funds go to scholars' tuition, academic monitoring and mentorship, and the operating costs directly tied to that work.
Still have a question?
